Degas Goes Modern

We think of Edgar Degas primarily as a painter, the great chronicler of ballet.  But a new exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York reveals a restless seeker after the new, the innovative.

The exhibit, Edgar Degas:  A Strange New Beauty, focuses on his use of the monotype process, with some astonishing results:

"The exhibition includes approximately 120 rarely seen monotypes—along with some 60 related paintings, drawings, pastels, sketchbooks, and prints—that show Degas at his most modern."

Find out why readers are buzzing about this thriller.
